Nelle sue performance a sfondo polico, l’artista russo Pyotr Pavlensky si è cucito la bocca, si è inchiodato lo scroto al selciato della Piazza Rossa, ha dato fuoco alla porta della sede dei servizi segreti russi per protestare contro il “terrore di stato”. È stato detenuto in carcere per sette mesi. Il film ci racconta il suo lavoro a difesa della libertà dell’individuo di fronte al potere dello Stato.

In the course of his political performances, the Russian artist Pyotr Pavlensky has sewn his mouth, nailed his scrotum to Red Square and set fire to the door of the headquarters of the Russian secret service, to protest against “state terror”. He spent seven months in prison. The film shows Pyotr Pavlensky and his preoccupation with the liberty of the individual confronted by the power of the state.
Irene Langemann
è nata a Issilkul, in Unione Sovietica e si è laureata in Recitazione e Lingua e letteratura tedesca alla Tcepkin Drama School di Mosca nel 1980. Ha lavorato per dieci anni come attrice, regista e drammaturga e poi come presentatrice alla televisione russa. Emigrata in Germania nel 1990, ha lavorato per la Deutsche Welle TV di Colonia. Dal 1996 è una regista free lance.
