14 ROOMS è una mostra unica nel suo genere: 14 artisti sono invitati ad occupare 14 spazi bianchi di 25 mq. ciascuno, con sculture viventi esposte per otto ore al giorno. Queste opere d’arte sconcertano il pubblico perché si muovono, parlano, cantano, si spogliano. Dalle prime esperienze di body art delle pioniere Joan Jonas e Marina Abramović alle recenti creazioni di Santiago Sierra, Damien Hirst, Roman Ondak o Xu Zhen, questo film propone un viaggio nella storia della Performance come espressione artistica.

A one of a kind exhibit: 14 artists are invited to activate fourteen, 25 m2 white spaces with living sculptures on exhibit for eight hours a day. These living works of art disconcert the public because they move, talk, sing and even undress. From the initial experiences of body art by pioneers Joan Jonas and Marina Abramovic to the recent creations of artists such as Santiago Sierra, Damien Hirst, Roman Ondak or Xu Zhen, this film not only proposes a unique experience but also a voyage into the history of Performance as an artistic expression.

Nato a Colonia nel 1954, è regista e critico d'arte. Ha scritto per le riviste ART Kunstmagazin, Lettre International, ZEIT e ha pubblicato molti libri su artisti come Georg Baselitz, Jannis Kounellis, Markus Lüpertz e saggi come Scandals in Art; Art after Ground Zero o Cinema and Art, una riflessione sul rapporto tra arte contemporanea e Hollywood. I suoi film su Georg Baselitz, Rebecca Horn, Bruce Nauman, Alex Katz, Christian Boltanski sono stati presentati in varie retrospettive in tutto il mondo. Attualmente sta lavorando a un film su Georg Baselitz. È fondatore e direttore artistico del Festival di Monaco Kino der Kunst. A Istambul ha curato diverse mostre per la Dirimart Gallery. Vive tra Colonia e Parigi.
