Picasso è l’artista più fotografato del XX secolo. Considerato come uno dei maggiori geni del suo tempo, era attratto dall’invenzione del secolo nel campo dell’immagine: la fotografia. Nel corso della sua lunga vita ha incontrato numerosi fotografi con i quali ha stabilito solidi rapporti di amicizia e di complicità , esercitando su di essi un grande fascino. In questo film gli ultimi tre fotografi ancora viventi, Lucien Clergue, David Douglas Duncan e André Villers, ci parlano del loro rapporto con il genio spagnolo, del suo rapporto con l’immagine, la creazione e il teatro. La fotografia ha contribuito a costruire il mito di Picasso nei diversi periodi della sua vita e ha potuto dare una testimonianza preziosa sul suo processo creativo. Alcune opere non esisterebbero senza la fotografia, come i disegni “dipinti” con la luce, colti solo grazie alla macchina fotografica.

Picasso is the most photographed artist of the twentieth century. Considered one of the greatest geniuses of his time, he was attracted by the invention of the century in the field of images: photography. During the course of his long life, he met numerous photographers with whom he established close friendships based on complicity and his charisma held them firmly in his sway. In this film, the last three photographers who are still alive, Lucien Clergue, David Douglas Duncan and André Villers, speak about their relationship with the Spanish genius, his relationship with images, the creative process and the theatre. Photography contributed to building the myth of Picasso throughout the various periods of his life and provided precious testimony of his creative processes. Some of his works would never have been realized without this medium such as his drawings which were “painted” with light that had only been captured thanks to photography.

da oltre dieci anni realizza documentari a sfondo sociale con una particolare attenzione al patrimonio culturale e all’arte. Si interessa anche di musica, indagando la vita e le opere di vari compositori tra cui Puccini e Mozart. Questo percorso l’ha portata a esplorare i legami tra le varie espressioni dell’arte come tra la fotografia, la pittura e la scultura nel film Picasso et les photographes o il rapporto tra la pittura e la danza in un film su Matisse. Ha diretto vari film per la serie Enquêtes d’art su France 5 e realizza regolarmente Iungometraggi per la trasmissione Des Racines et des Ailes su France 3.
