Nell'ottobre 2016 Jan Fabre è stato invitato a esporre le sue opere in dialogo con la collezione permanente del Museo Hermitage di San Pietroburgo. Il documentario lo segue durante l’allestimento nei giorni precedenti l’apertura ufficiale della mostra: più di 200 opere sono state trasportate a San Pietroburgo per essere installate nel Palazzo d’Inverno e nel Palazzo dello Stato Maggiore. Fabre ci racconta come aveva immaginato la mostra in un primo momento e come poi è stata realizzata. Rivela anche molto di sé, della sua infanzia ad Anversa, quando si mascherava da cavaliere con uno scudo e un’armatura di legno, e della sua vita frenetica di artista perennemente in giro per il mondo.

In October 2016 Jan Fabre is invited to exhibit his works in dialogue with the permanent collection of the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg. This documentary film covers the days before the official opening of the exhibit. More than 200 works have been transported to Saint-Petersburg. They are to be installed in the Winter Palace and the General Staff Building. Fabre tells us how he first imagined the exhibit and how it turned out in reality. He also reveals a lot about himself, his childhood in Antwerp when he used to dress up as a knight with wooden shields and armor and his life as an international artist travelling the world.

classe 1975, è un regista belga di film e documentari per la TV. Jan Fabre at the State Hermitage Museum è la sua seconda opera su Jan Fabre, prodotta dopo Jan Fabre au Louvre. Attualmente lavora a una serie di sei documentari sulla musica classica per la TV pubblica belga e ad una produzione internazionale di sei documentari su energia e clima. All’inizio del 2016, con l'artista Bas Smets, ha realizzato il cortometraggio Biosphere 2, presentato alla biennale Agora 2017 di Bordeaux.
