Il film descrive il processo creativo dell'artista cileno Alfredo Jaar. Le sue opere affrontano i grandi problemi che affliggono diverse aree del mondo, come l'immigrazione al confine tra Messico e Stati Uniti, il genocidio in Ruanda o il colpo di stato militare in Cile. Jaar ritiene che nella nostra società l'arte rappresenti "l'ultimo angolo di libertà" e considera il suo lavoro come un atto di resistenza. Ripercorriamo alcune delle sue principali mostre tra Helsinki, Venezia, Buenos Aires, Santiago e New York accompagnati dalla colonna sonora composta da suo figlio Nicolas Jaar, uno dei musicisti più acclamati nel mondo della musica elettronica.

This film observes Alfredo Jaar’s creative process. His works address big issues in different parts of the world, such as immigration at the Mexico and USA border, genocide in Rwanda or the military coup in Chile. Jaar believes that art is “the last place of freedom” in our society and he displays his work as an act of resistance. This is the first film made about this great artist and is also a journey through his work, with exhibitions in Finland, Venice, Buenos Aires, Santiago and New York. The soundtrack of the documentary is by his son Nicolas Jaar, one of the most influential musicians in the world of electronic music.
Paula Rodríguez Sickert è nata in Cile nel 1963. Ha intrapreso la carriera professionale come regista di documentari e giornalista televisiva. Nel suo lavoro affronta prevalentemente questioni che riguardano l'America Latina. Organizza laboratori audiovisivi in varie parti del Cile per sensibilizzare i giovani sui problemi ambientali. Molti dei suoi film tra cui First Steps, Pinochet's Children e Isabel Allende sono stati premiati in vari festival e vengono trasmessi dalle televisioni di tutto il mondo. Tra i suoi lavori ricordiamo inoltre: De tierra del fuego a Tijuana, 2010; Tengo este sueño, 2012; It´s Only the Beginning, 2013; Muertes anunciadas, 2014.
