Questo film ci conduce nel mondo onirico di Maurits Cornelis Escher. Attraverso i suoi scritti, le sue parole e i racconti di due dei suoi figli, il documentario ricostruisce la vita dell’artista olandese e ci accompagna nei luoghi che sono stati per lui fonte di grande ispirazione. Le animazioni mostrano i principi matematici e scientifici alla base del lavoro di questo artista-scienziato. Le sue opere hanno ispirato molti musicisti negli anni ‘60 e ‘70 e ancora oggi continuano a influenzare il mondo della graphic novel, della pubblicità e del cinema contemporanei.

This film about Maurits Cornelis Escher leads us into his dream-like world. Through his writings, his words and the recounts of two of his children, the documentary reconstructs the life of the Dutch artists and accompanies us to the places which were sources of great inspiration to him. The animations clearly demonstrate the mathematical and scientific principles which provided the basis for the works of this artist-scientist. His oeuvre inspired many musicians during the Sixties and the Seventies and still today continues to influence the world of graphic novels, advertising and contemporary cinema.
Dopo aver lavorato in Francia per 16 anni, nel 1988 Robin Lutz fonda una sua compagnia di produzioni audiovisive focalizzata su documentari d’autore, culturali e di informazione che hanno vinto numerosi premi.
