Un film sull’affascinante vita di un’opera d’arte, raccontata dal punto di vista del noto restauratore Christian Scheidemann, richiesto in tutto il mondo per la sua fama di “Art Doctor”. Entriamo con lui nel backstage del mondo dell’arte e nel suo studio troviamo schierate, come pazienti nella sala d’aspetto di un medico, opere di artisti come Stingel, Stella, McCarthy, Gober. Con Scheidemann esploriamo tutta la gamma dei materiali usati nell’arte contemporanea come farfalle rare, sterco di elefante, bucce, polvere, gusci d’uovo, lattice, interrogandoci su dove inizi l’arte e dove smetta di essere tale.

A film about the fascinating life of an art work seen from the perspective of the star conservator Christian Scheidemann who is in high demand all over the world, also known as the “Art Doctor”. He takes us on a journey backstage of the world of contemporary art. Works of art of the most renowned artists such as Stingel, Stella, McCarthy, Gober, are lining up in his studio like patients in the doctor’s waiting room. In the film this serves as an intro into the fascinating world of the materials used in contemporary art, such as rare butterflies, elephant dung, fruit skins, dust, egg shells latex. With Scheidemann, the film addresses the question where art begins and where it ceases to be just that.
Marion Kollbach ha studiato letteratura tedesca e storia dell’arte a Colonia e Berlino. È autrice, cineasta, editrice di libri, moderatrice, esperta di media. In qualità di direttore di produzione ha partecipato a film indipendenti di Heinz Emigholz e Klaus Wyborny, tra cui The Open Universe con Tilda Swinton e Hanns Zischler. Vive ad Amburgo.
