Victor Vasarely è stato uno degli artisti di spicco del XX secolo. Promotore dell’astrazione geometrica, fu creatore e leader dell’Optical Art. Dalle tre forme, il triangolo, il cerchio e il quadrato, i tre elementi fondamentali del linguaggio grafico definito da Kandinsky al Bauhaus, Vasarely inventò un alfabeto plastico e un linguaggio universale. Dopo un’ascesa meteorica che culminò con l’apertura della sua fondazione ad Aix-en-Provence nel 1976, cadde nell’oblio a metà degli anni ‘80, fino alla sua morte nel 1997. Il suo lavoro oggi viene lentamente rivalutato, nuovi artisti condividono la sua visione rivoluzionaria dell’arte e il Centre Georges Pompidou di Parigi gli ha dedicato un’ampia retrospettiva.

Victor Vasarely was one of the outstanding artists of the 20th century. Master and inventor of geometric abstraction, he was the incredible creator and leader of Optical Art. The three forms he claims - the triangle, the round, and the square - refer to the three fundamental elements of the graphic language defined by Kandinsky at the Bauhaus. From these forms, Vasarely will invent a plastic alphabet and a method allowing a universal language. After a meteoric rise that culminated in 1976 with the opening of his foundation in Aix-en-Provence, he sank into oblivion in the mid-80s until his death in 1997. His work today is slowly, again, re-evaluated and valued, new artists are part of his revolutionary vision of art and the Georges Pompidou Centre in Paris dedicated to him a large retrospective.
Catherine Benazeth ha una lunga esperienza in marketing e comunicazione. Appassionata di documentari e cinema, dirige gli studi di Boulogne Billancourt e diventa direttore del marketing presso Unifrance, un’organizzazione che promuove il cinema francese all’estero. Dal 1996, nell’ambito della Mission for the Year 2000 diretta da Jean-Jacques Aillagon, organizza numerosi eventi culturali, co-produce programmi televisivi e cinematografici, curandone anche la comunicazione. Negli ultimi quindici anni ha scritto e prodotto documentari audiovisivi per canali come Arte, France 5 o Canal + e per varie società di produzione.
