Richard Hamilton, padre della Pop Art, dedicò parte della sua vita al lavoro di un altro importante artista, Marcel Duchamp, l'inventore del ready made. Un enigmatico lavoro, forse una delle opere più complesse della storia dell'arte del XX secolo, è al centro del suo interesse: La mariée mise à nu par ses célibataires, même di Marcel Duchamp, conosciuto anche come Il Grande Vetro. Richard Hamilton ha esaminato ogni dettaglio di quest’opera, esplorandone i vari livelli di comprensione. Basato su interviste inedite e testimonianze dello stesso Duchamp, il film ricostruisce il rapporto eccezionale tra due figure emblematiche della storia dell’arte.

The father of Pop Art, Richard Hamilton devoted a part of his life to the work of another major artist, Marcel Duchamp, the inventor of ready-made. The very core of this unique relationship centres around a strange, enigmatic work, perhaps one of the most complex works of art produced in the twentieth century: La mariée mise à nu par ses célibataires, même by Marcel Duchamp, also known as The Large Glass. Richard Hamilton examined every detail of this work without ever attempting to reduce Duchamp’s universe to a univocal interpretation. Based on never-before published interviews, Pascal Goblot’s film explores the relationship between two leading figures of contemporary art.
