Il film descrive la nascita a Parigi del museo che ospita la Collezione Pinault dedicato all’arte e alla creatività contemporanea e la preparazione della mostra inaugurale Ouverture/Opening. Dopo cinque anni di lavoro con oltre tremila operai e artigiani diretti dal famoso architetto giapponese Tadao Ando, lo storico monumento della Bourse de Commerce è stato trasformato in un museo d'avanguardia con un intervento architettonico al contempo innovativo e conservativo. Il tutto sotto lo sguardo intransigente di François Pinault, appassionato collezionista e ‘uomo d'affari miliardario e anticonformista’, come lui stesso si definisce.
The film describes the founding of the museum hosting the Pinault Collection dedicated to contemporary art and creativity as well as to the preparations for the opening of the exhibition entitled Ouverture/Opening. Over five years of work and more than three thousand workers and craftsmen, under the direction of the famous Japanese architect Tadao Ando, were required to transform the historic monument of the Bourse de Commerce into an avant-garde museum in a combination of radical architectural intervention and heritage conservation. All under the uncompromising eye of François Pinault, the impassioned collector who defines himself as a 'billionaire businessman and maverick'.

Olivier Lemaire è un documentarista che si immerge regolarmente in avventure artistiche. Ha scritto e diretto numerosi documentari su registi, coreografi e musicisti tra cui Jean-Luc Godard, Angelin Preljocaj, Roland Petit, Fabrice Hyber. Collabora con le emittenti televisive ARTE, Canal + e France 2 per le quali ha diretto film e documentari a carattere socio-culturale come Global Gâchis, 2011; Porn Pop, 2015; 13 Novembre, la vie d’après, un’inchiesta tra gli abitanti dei quartieri attaccati dall’Isis nel 2015; Celui qui danse, 2017. Nel 2019 ha girato un documentario sulle popolazioni indiane Khasi, una delle ultime società matrilineari del mondo.
