Questo film affronta il tema dell’arte digitale seguendo le vicende di Obvious, un collettivo composto da tre giovani artisti francesi che creano arte servendosi dell’intelligenza artificiale. Nel 2018, Christie’s ha battuto all’asta la loro prima opera realizzata con l’IA, raggiungendo una cifra che ha suscitato polemiche e fatto notizia in tutto il mondo. Da allora, hanno continuato la loro ricerca, realizzando mostre e opere per musei e diversi marchi. Allo stesso tempo, il film rivela la riluttanza di molti esperti d’arte, musei e istituzioni nei confronti degli artisti che usano il digitale. Con determinazione, il collettivo cerca di ritagliare uno spazio a questa tecnologia rivoluzionaria nel mondo dell’arte e di ridefinire il ruolo degli artisti nella società contemporanea.
This film explores the theme of digital art by following the story of Obvious, a collective of three young French artists who create art using artificial intelligence. In 2018, Christie’s auctioned their first work created with AI, reaching a price that sparked controversy and made headlines worldwide. Since then, they have continued their research, creating exhibitions and works for museums and various brands. At the same time, the film reveals the reluctance of many art experts, museums and institutions towards artists who use digital. With determination, the three artists strive to carve out a place for this revolutionary technology in the art world and to redefine the role of artists in contemporary society.

Thibaut Sève è un regista francese che ha iniziato la sua carriera come montatore cinematografico per importanti docufilm. Dal 2013 ha diretto numerosi documentari sull’arte e sul cinema, tra cui Velázquez: Painting Takes Power (2014), Les Présidents et l’art (2018), The Wachowski Revolution (2024). Impegnato nel mondo dei documentari, Thibaut ha creato la piattaforma LE PLAN DOCU, che offre una selezione di documentari visionabili gratuitamente.
