L’iconico orinatoio ready-made Fountain, presentato inizialmente come un lavoro di “anti-arte” firmato R. Mutt, ma da sempre attribuito a Marcel Duchamp, è considerato una delle opere più influenti del XX secolo. Tuttavia, riaffiorano periodicamente alcune teorie che ne smentiscono la paternità, attribuendo l’opera a una donna: l’artista dadaista Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven, conosciuta come La Baronessa. In Alreadymade originalità, autorialità e identità vengono messe in discussione, proprio come fece Fountain nel 1917, ma attraverso le tecnologie del presente.
The iconic urinal Fountain, originally presented as a piece of “anti-art” signed by the unknown R. Mutt, but long attributed to Marcel Duchamp, is widely recognized as one of the most influential artworks of the 20th century. However, theories periodically resurface that call into question his authorship, attributing the work to a woman: the Dadaist artist Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven, known as The Baroness. In Alreadymade, originality, authorship and identity are challenged, just as they were in the 1917 Fountain, but using modern technology.

Barbara Visser è un’artista visiva concettuale, regista e documentarista. Nata nei Paesi Bassi, ha studiato presso la Gerrit Rietveld Academy di Amsterdam e la Van Eyck Academie di Maastricht. È stata presidente della sezione Arti della Reale Accademia Olandese delle Arti e delle Scienze, direttrice artistica di IDFA, promotrice e responsabile del Temporary Master Program F for Fact, presso il Sandberg Instituut di Amsterdam. I suoi lavori sono stati presentati in festival cinematografici e mostre in tutto il mondo.
